Summer Means Summer Menu!
There are customers who come in to our restaurant and order the same things from our menu every time they come in. They want their coffee a certain way and they are obsessed with a particular menu item, be it our chicken rice, caramel pork, nasi lemak, or our banh-mis. But in addition to our classic menu, which is there to offer you those comforting flavors of Asia all year long, we also want to showcase the produce of the season and the latest experiments from the mind of Chef Khanh Ly. So, without further ado, here are some sneak peeks at our Summer Menu, available in full as of July 1:
the VFC - Vietnamese Fried Chicken - we alluded to this in our Father’s Day article. It’s chicken that is fried in a light buttermilk batter with chili powder, accompanied by three dipping sauces for every palate: yogurt mint (for the mild), sambal (for the spicy-minded), and sriracha mayo (somewhere in between the two). This is a perfect sharable for a picnic by the canal, which is a short walk from the restaurant. But be careful, if you like chicken, you might need to order a couple of these!
Laksa Meat Balls - these are all pork-based and are inspired by a traditional southern Vietnamese dish of barbecued meat which is wrapped in a thin rice pancake and dipped into a sauce. We’ve packed these flavors into these meatballs with an option to add on some glutinous rice on the side.
We also have a spicy daikon kimchi, which is a fresh accompaniment to any of our summer dishes or a wonderful add on to our classic menu items.
You’re probably wondering what you’re going to wash all of this deliciousness down with and we’ve got you, again with spicy and sweet choices (see a theme yet?). On one hand we’ve got a Sriracha Bloody Mary (no further explanation required!) and on the other we have our Oat Milk Tea, a more subtle and refined variation of a teh tarik. Ingredients include cardamom tea, tonka bean, and oat milk.
Got room for dessert? I hope you’re ready for a Kaya (Panna) Cotta. Yup, we just said that. Take that delicious kaya that Khanh Ly normally whips up and put it into a traditional dessert and you’ve got something we think we might be selling out of frequently in the coming weeks.
If these choices don’t get you excited, you might be asleep! But seriously, the sun is shining, the shadow of the first part of the year has passed, and it’s time to enjoy some great food, music, and coffee with us. Stop by! We can’t wait to see you.
(If you’re still taking it easy with going out in public, don’t worry, all these delicious flavors are still available for pickup and delivery! Just click here).
