Celebrating with yu-sheng (prosperity salad)

It’s a tradition at The Hood Paris to ‘lo-hei’ (toss the prosperity salad) during the Lunar New Year, and we would have loved to share that with you here in paris !

Here’s a Prosperity Salad Tossing guide ala The Hood Paris style:

PROSPERITY SALAD TOSS :

a)– Ensure you have a large plate and assemble the base veggie ingredient separately !

b) - Provide everyone around a pair of chopsticks , and shout out enthusiastically “ Gong Xi Fa Cai” ( Congratulations for your wealth (and also health!!)

c) – Finishing touches: Shout out the following blessings ala The Hood style, as you pour/sprinkle the below items:

1 - Fish (optional)

年年有馀 (“ Nian Nian You Yu”) / to abundance of love and prosperity

2 - Clementines

大吉大利 (“ Da Ji Da Li”) / may you have good luck and everything shall be smooth sailing

3- Five spiced powder !

五福临门 (” Wu Fu Ling Men ”) / to plentiful of blessings

4 – Pepper and Cinnamon Powder !

招财进宝  (“ Zhao Cái Jìn Bǎo”) / may we be richer in our lives (inside and out)

5. Crushed Roasted Peanuts

金银满屋 (“Jin Yin Man Tang ”) / may your house b filled with gold and silver, and most importantly love

6. Sesame Seeds

生意兴隆 (“Sheng Yi Xin Long “) / to prosperity in purpose and meaning in your life and business !

7. Deep-fried golden wonton strips

遍地黄金 (“ Biàn dì huáng jīn”) / may your life be filled with shimmering glittering gold and goodness

8. Plum Sauce

甜甜蜜蜜 (“Tian Tian Mi Mi “) / to sweet and loving relationships

d) Toss the Prosperity salad as high as you can with your individual pair of chopsticks (masks on too !) A
